Frequently Asked Questions

How long are therapy sessions?

Sessions run for 50 minutes which is the industry standard and considered a therapeutic hour.

How many sessions do I need?

This answer depends on a number of factors such as your needs, preferences, presenting issues, commitment, and finances. The number of sessions will be discussed with you during the first session and your therapist will check in throughout the course of therapy to evaluate your goals, progress, and satisfaction. Together, you will decide on an appropriate termination date.

Is therapy covered?

Our services are covered by most extended health care plans. However, we recommend that you contact your insurance provider to inquire about your coverage for a psychologist and for a psychotherapist working under the supervision of a registered psychologist. It is important to ask your provider how much per person per calendar year is available to you and whether there is a maximum coverage amount per session.

What are your fees?

Fees range between $160 and $250 per therapy session. Fees for psychological assessments depend on the complexity of the case and will be discussed with you directly.

What is your availability?

Availability varies by therapist. We offer day and evening appointments.

Is your doctoral student therapist qualified to provide therapy?

Yes! Our doctoral student therapists  have completed the necessary coursework that prepares them to provide psychotherapy. They work under the direct supervision of an experienced Registered Psychologist, and participate in Centre Wellness' carefully developed practicum program which provides training and learning opportunities above and beyond their school's requirements.

What is the rate for therapy provided by a doctoral student therapist?

The rate is $160 per 50 minute session. This fee reflects the student's level of skills and training, and covers the cost of supervision, program oversight, additional clinical training, and administrative support. The low-cost rate acknowledges the additional contribution of the client in participating in live observation and video or audio recording of sessions to enhance the student's training and experience.

Is therapy with a doctoral student therapist covered by my benefits?

Our doctoral student therapists work under the direct supervision of a Registered Psychologist, and therefore the service is a psychological service. It is the client's responsibility to check their policy to ensure these services are covered and obtain information regarding maximum amount per session and per year.
