Therapy for Anxiety
Do you feel excessively worried or fearful about the future?

Do you find yourself repeatedly replaying the day’s events?

Do you have difficulty relaxing or have trouble calming your mind?
If you struggle with any of these experiences, you may notice yourself having trouble sleeping, making decisions, prioritizing tasks, and feeling present in your relationships.
What is Anxiety?
Anxiety is a broad term to describe a number of physiological and psychological symptoms. If you suffer from anxiety you may experience any combination of the following symptoms:
-
Tense, keyed up, or on edge
-
Stomach knots or upset
-
Internal agitation accompanied by urges to move, keep busy, or escape
-
Increased perspiration
-
Racing thoughts
-
Difficulty focusing, organizing one’s thoughts or making decisions
-
Increased worry about the future, the past, mistakes or perceived failures
-
Concerns about what others might think of them
-
Difficulty sleeping, poor appetite, and fatigue
-
Self-criticism
-
Racing heart rate
-
Feeling of worry, fear, nervousness or dread

Individuals are intuitively skilled at developing strategies to manage the experience of anxiety.

-
We may begin avoiding situations that we know will provoke such experiences
-
We may engage in distraction such as social media or news consumption, substance use, or excessive spending
-
We may fill our schedules to ensure we are not left alone with our thoughts
-
We may obsessively rehearse all possible future situations
-
We may become preoccupied with mistakes in an effort to perfect our behaviour.
Unfortunately, though these strategies may temporarily relieve us of our suffering, they actually maintain and often enhance the intensity of anxiety.
How Can Therapy for Anxiety Help?
We understand it is scary to confront the things that cause such distress. At a pace that feels comfortable to you, we will work to gain a deeper understanding of the factors that initially led to the development of anxiety, as well as how it is being maintained in the present day.
With greater insight, you become empowered to make small changes that can reduce the intensity, duration, and frequency of anxiety-related symptoms. Through this process, you can re-establish a sense of safety in your body, accumulate internal resources to manage symptoms that do arise, and develop confidence in your ability to effectively navigate life’s inevitable stress.

That is why we developed a thoughtful matching process. We do our best to simplify the process so that you can just focus on feeling better.
