At Centre Wellness, our team of registered psychologists, registered psychotherapists, and psychotherapy interns provide evidence-based individual psychotherapy services. A person’s journey and experience of psychotherapy are unique, and depend on a number of factors including the therapeutic modality, areas of focus, client goals, and treatment durations. During the later phases of therapy, it is normal to shift into maintenance, and reduce the frequency of sessions. But when you are ready to formally complete therapy, we kindly invite you and your therapist to consider our complementary Extended Wellness Program.
Our Extended Wellness Program provides an opportunity for your therapeutic journey and self-determination to be honoured, continued, and supported long-term, after active therapy ends. The program is a unique aftercare experience that offers three structured follow-up sessions with one of our student therapists, allowing you to stay connected to your growth, reflect on your progress, and highlight areas that will support long-term gains. Over the course of six months, your three 45-minute complimentary check-in sessions will provide a comforting, supportive bridge when shifting out of therapy. These sessions will promote reflection, accountability, and strength-building by reviewing coping strategies, practicing implementation of skills, and honouring independent progress.
Once therapy is complete, individuals may experience initial feelings of uncertainty (Carroll, 2025). After-care provides gentle support during this transition by offering a supplemental resource for individuals to stay on track and accountable with the skills they have developed and strive to maintain. After-care is often a key component to maintaining progress, as it provides early intervention for occasional set-backs. We at Centre Wellness acknowledge how this transition can bring uncertainty, and therefore we offer our Extended Wellness Program to support your continued commitment to self-development.
Allow for Continued, Structured Support (Carrol, 2025): By having extended check-ins, individuals can receive as-needed guidance and support to navigate ongoing life stressors.
If you are currently engaged in active individual psychotherapy with one of our therapists at Centre Wellness, you may be eligible to participate in our Extended Wellness Program upon discharge. First, you will experience your course of therapy with your primary therapist at Centre Wellness. Your therapist (or you!) can introduce and discuss the Extended Wellness Program to determine if this might be a good fit for you. If you are interested, your therapist will then complete a referral form on your behalf.
Once accepted, you are enrolled in the Extended Wellness Program (at no cost!), and you will receive an intake package with all of the information and details about the program. Our administrative team will pair you with one of our supervised student therapists and assist you in scheduling your three 45-minute structured sessions spread out over six months.
Every two months, you will meet with our supervised student therapists who provide structured after-care sessions to support your ongoing wellness journey. These sessions within the program include:
The Extended Wellness Program provides after-care support that promotes gentle accountability, and a unique complementary way to stay connected, review your progress, and support self-development within a therapeutic environment – Reminding you that support at Centre Wellness is here. When you are nearing the completion phase of your active therapy journey, we welcome you to keep our Extended Wellness Program in mind to support you through the transition. If you have any questions about our program or would like to learn more about what it can offer, we invite you to our website page here or to contact us today.
Promoting long-term wellness and maintaining therapeutic growth, we hope that our Extended Wellness Program provides continued support for you.
